Very happy with this product. The cable and cutters are high quality and work very well.

  3. The package looks right, I haven’t intakes it, but it was supposed to come with gloves, but never arrived, and there is no option to ask for them I can only return the product of there is other way, I didn’t find it.

This seems as nice of quality wire rope as any other I’ve used this small. The black rope is nice for some of the wire hangings I’m doing around our camp area in the trees for lights. It blends in and really came be seen, which is ideal. Seems like good quality wire.

The TOSCOCO brand 100 foot 1/8 inch black stainless steel cable is a versatile high-strength conduit capable of fulfilling a multitude of purposes. We are already plotting additional ways to use this excellent cable here at the tree farm home base.

We recently cut and hauled some large century old cedar logs out of the forest to use for a property sign at the road entrance of the farm (pictures attached). These logs weigh approximately 1000 pounds each and typically snag on other trees and stumps as they make their way up the hill out of the cedar bush for processing. We use fabric straps at the present time; however, they wear out faster, and are more prone to snagging and knotting than cable.

We also have this cable in use as an overhead cross brace on an 18 foot high open ceiling connecting the sidewalls of a 20 foot wide 3 season screened outdoor room. Although not required by building code, the crisscrossing cables have the ability to strengthen the structural rigidity of the walls exponentially and prepare for the potential of a tornado or other environmental calamity.

We cover this cable seasonally with faux Olive leaves in summer and Evergreen greenery in the winter months to add extra ambience. Some folks, including this writer, actually prefer the industrial look of the bare cable compared to the greenery. The cables adds value, safety and visual appeal regardless of the finished look (pictures attached).

We really like the specs on this 1/8 inch diameter stainless steel cable. Constructed of smooth and burr- free 7 x 7 construction (7 strands with 7 wires in each), that delivers more than 1400 pounds of combined breaking strength. Safe to handle without fear of skin puncturing frayed aberrations. The design team has even included a pair of white cloth gloves for this task, plus a heavy-duty wire cutter with safety locks. Everything needed to get started on your next special cable project is included and ready to go.

    Conclusion:

The TOSCOCO brand 100 foot 1/8 inch black stainless steel cable is a versatile high-strength conduit capable of fulfilling a multitude of purposes. An overall product score of 5/5 is assigned accordingly.

Strong and durable for whatever you have your mind set on using this for. Very long. Very useful. Use it on a pulley. Use it on a rail. Use it on a fence. Whatever you imagine doing with it, it’s strong enough for it.

I love that this set includes cutters with the cable. Sometimes I’ll have trouble cutting cables when they didn’t include cutters. So was super stoked I wouldn’t be struggling for a bit trying to figure out what tool I needed to use to cut through. The wire is extremely high quality in terms of strength and support. Whatever you plan on using this for, it will do its job; you won’t be disappointed with its performance. I did however notice some fading in the color but nothing that bothered me but I could see some people having issues with that. The gloves are not the greatest but I didn’t get this for the gloves. I’ve got my own working gloves but I’d suggest using some other heavy-duty gloves when working with this cable than the ones included. It is nice though that they did include some. Overall awesome strong steel cable and a great price for the amount you get.

This review evaluates the “1/8” 7×7 316T Black Stainless Steel Wire Rope” made by TOSCOCO.

The product was shipped without wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) 100-foot coil of “1/8” 316T black stainless steel wire rope, one (1) pair of wire cutters, one (1) pair of cotton gloves, and user instructions.

First Impressions: The wire rope has a tightly packed 7×7 core (7 lays of 7 strands) of wire rope. The included large looped coil of slightly oiled wire rope is a generous 100 feet. I build a lot of projects where anti-corrosion or aesthetics are important, so the 316T stainless steel wire rope is ideal.

PROTIP: Since stainless steel rope is less ductile than regular steel wire rope, always use a grinder with a zip disk to make clean cuts otherwise you will crush the core and fray the strands. The included cutters do a decent job but still crush the core; with continued use and the blades dull, it will become more pronounced. However, the supplied cutter does a decent job.

I am glad to see that the manufacturer includes an information pamphlet on their product; I think it is essential to make people aware of the safety limitation of a product used as a railing or to suspend a load. They list the breaking strength of their cable as 1,800 lbs but buyer beware this is NOT the Safe Working Load (SWL) of the wire rope. The SWL includes a safety factor because you never want to load a wire rope (or anything else for that matter) to its maximum limit. If you are using this cable under loading, do your own research and safety factor calculations. As a benchmark (I assume no responsibility for the following calculations or information): 1/8” 7×7 stainless steel wire rope has an ultimate tensile strength (aka UTS, breaking strength) of approximately 1,800 – 2,000 lbs. Wire rope is generally rated at a 5x safety factor so this cable would have a safe working load limit (aka SWL) of approximately 360 lbs.

I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program so I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. Therefore, I will monitor this product over the next 8-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise.

Cost-effectiveness and value: At a current price of $65.98 plus a 5% off coupon ($0.63 per foot), I feel that it is competitively priced and is of good value compared to the big box retailers.

In summary: the “1/8” 7×7 316T Black Stainless Steel Wire Rope” made by TOSCOCO appears to be decently made and functions as advertised. This product has 1,001 uses around your home or shop where anti-corrosion or good aesthetics are important. It is competitively priced and of good value. I would recommend this product.

Used this product to replace wooden railing. Likes: looks good with any deck or stairway , unobstructed view, weather resistant, no anticipated maintenance beyond occasional tightening, cost effective. Dislikes: must be kept tightened to maintain code, cable cutter and hydraulic crimper are necessary for hassle-free installation.

  11. Dawn Snyder

This was easier than we originally thought. After the first couple wires we were total pros. I would recommend this product to everyone.

This is a good kit depending on your intended purpose. I t would work as part of a railing system presuming you could get it taut enough. The included cutters are ok to start but wear out quickly and the gloves are great when dealing with the oily coating the coil leaves the factory with.

Which brings me to outdoor uses – you may need to strip/clean the coating off of the ends if you wrap the cable around an eyelet or attach to a tensioner at one or more ends. But the coating helps keeps the rust at bay, so you may want to reapply a similar product once assembled in its final configuration. We got this set to help support an awning for the yard and the oil marked up the light coloured awning quickly, only to fade with use. Discolour is too strong a description but we’ve noticed the entire cable has faded. We have had to take this down and will leave it in storage until next summer, so will see if it rusts over the winter.

This is a good set for the price and the included wire cutters helps get projects launched, as do the gloves. I wish it was plastic coated like other aircraft grade cable, as that would solve many problems though would increase the cost.

Impossible to ask for the gloves missing only to return the product.
