I gave this product three stars. The reason being is because the product does file pets nails relatively less stressfully, as when a dog nail clippers are in use- if done safely and properly. The product does seem to be of relatively good quality/materials.

That being said, my concern lies in the fact that there are virtually zero safety precautions for material or hair entanglement regarding the presence of any automatic shut off when increased resistance is met. Most other products with rotating components (I.e. handheld fans, vacuum cleaners) can detect if a snag is detected at which point the motor stops spinning and shuts off until the device is cleared of snags and restarted.

In this situation, a single strand of my hair came in contact with rotating end of the dog nail grinder, and it started twisting until an entire chunk of my hair became fully entangled, which happened over the course of approximately 1-2 seconds.
The device continued spinning and spinning and I could not get the sliding on/off switch to slide off because the device continue to spin in my hand. The device was very hot, almost smoking, because of the amount of hair entangling, but it did not turn off.

This had me greatly concerned, not just for myself, but for my dog.

Because my dog is a long-haired mixed breed (Bernedoodle, or Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog mix), her hair could easily become stuck in the twisting mechanism. Especially because she is also a large breed, meaning we cannot use the included plastic nail guard due to the size and shape of her nails. At which point, this would be much a more painful and traumatizing experience than just using a regular nail clipper, and I do not want to traumatize her… or myself.

I feel like if the rotary mechanism senses a snag or a tangle in the rotating bit, it should have a safety feature that automatically shuts it off so that people and/or their pets do not have hair (or other loose articles) incidentally damaged, burned, ripped out, or removed.

The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 1 is because I understand that this issue is partially my fault and in the future, I would tie my hair back fully if I were to use it again. Also it’s not an entirely useless product, but can only be safely used (in my opinion) on smaller, shorter haired breeds.
With that being said, I am glad this happened to me rather than my pet because I was able to easily cut the affected strands of my hair that were burned and frayed off and am physically unharmed, although my hair does look very strange now since this large strand was in the very front. Regardless, I take some responsibility for the incident, however, I don’t want my situation to happen to any long haired pets in the future and hope the company makes some safety adjustments to the product.

One thing that could significantly improve safety would be to include an overall larger grinding bit that also includes a larger plastic safety guard with a bigger opening for large breed dogs, so that their nails can be filed safely with decreased risk for tangling, ripping, tugging, etc.
As mentioned, I was not able to use the provided guard that comes with the product because my dogs nails are simply too wide/thick to keep the guard on. If you have a small pet with thinner nails, the guard would likely better protect you/your pet or reduce the risk of entanglement by probably 90%.

In conclusion, I will likely not use this on my long haired dogs, but I would be willing to try the product again on my short haired, smaller dog (Boston terrier) because the risk for entanglement is minimal to none (for the pet), and I can use the file guard that is included with the product. Of course, my hair will be tied back next time…

I hope this helps someone make a more informed decision on purchasing this product.

I purchased this product several months ago and in a recent move it got lost. I purchased another one because this product is amazing!! Basically I’ve got my money’s worth from the first use!! My dog doesn’t fight me, it’s easy to use, and no issues with the product at all. I do need to pull back my dog’s long ears and trim up fur around the nail before using or the fur can get caught in the process of trimming the nail. Luckily, I figured this out early, as my dog’s ear fur got caught during trimming. No injury happened and it didn’t not break the file. My dog still lets me use it. It has saved at least $40 a month from having the vet trim the nails.

best gadget for filing my dogs nails. usually have to put her in a hammock and fight with her to clip her nails. with this gadget she just sat on the table and let me file all her nails. unbelievably easy, effective, affordable and less stress for dog and owner. highly recommend

  4. Lexi

Très facile d’utilisation et la batterie dur longtemps 👍🏼

  5. Kener Fernandez Cordoba

This grooming nail grinder works exactly as expected. It’s incredibly quiet, which helps keep my dog calm during the process. The grinder is easy to handle and makes nail trimming much smoother and less stressful for both of us.

  6. Moongirl

This product makes keeping my dog’s nails short so easy. No more worries about clipping nails too short. He holds still and doesn’t seem to mind it at all. The hum is not loud. We use the lower setting which is fine. Have used it 3X so far; no sign of battery running down.

  7. Anthony

This a very well made tool. It is very quiet which makes it easier when you have a dog that doesn’t want his paws being touched. We have two dogs, a Jack Russel Terrior mix, and a Labrodoodle. Our small dog is always difficult when it comes to getting his nails clipped. We often just take him to the vet or groomer. Thought this Neil grinder was worth trying. It has some weight to it, and feels like a quality made nail grinder. We were able to do our small dogs nails with very little trouble which was surprising. I don’t know about battery life as we just used it for the first time nd haven’t even charged it out of the box. For $20.00 you can beat it. Well worth it!

  8. Shelly Mounts

This nail grinder is very nice. I feel it was misleading in the description though because it’s not quiet. I have a dog that is afraid of grinders and I was hopeful this would work out but it’s just like the others. If you need a grinder and don’t have a dog that’s afraid, I’d highly recommend this one. It’s easy to hold and great quality and easy to use

  9. gloria baltierra

It took me a while to really use this, mostly because dog and cats were a bit put off by the hum and vibration at first. The battery life on this thing is insanely good. I mean, I went months and it still had charge. I use it for a good 20 minutes bi-weekly and still have lots of charge, with 4 cats and 1 dog, it can work on all of them… If they let you.

My dog has really thick nails and this still manages to trim his nicely. I can Dremel pretty close to the quick and he isn’t hurt. The noise is fairly quiet, however, they do notice it, if you have anxious cats, expect them to fight you until they realise there is no pain.

This is a great value for the money. Remember to fully charge before use and don’t leave it on charger overnight/past the full charge indicator… I’ve had it for what feels like a year and zero issues. It also has been dropped a few times and no damage.

100% recommend to anyone looking for a Dremel for nail grooming!

  10. James Williams

The Casfuy Dog Nail Grinder has been a game-changer for grooming my dog at home. My Lab usually hates nail trims, but this grinder is quiet and gentle, making the process stress-free for both of us. The two-speed settings are perfect for tackling thicker nails, and the safety guard prevents me from over-grinding. It’s lightweight, rechargeable, and easy to handle—plus, the battery lasts a long time. If you want a safer, painless alternative to clippers, this is it. Highly recommended for pet owners who want to keep their furry friends comfortable and happy!

Muy buen producto no hace ruido solo si hay que tener cuidado porque la lija se llega a calentar y puede lastimas al perrito y es mas para rebajar poquito las uñas no para dejarlas como si se hubiera cortado con cortaúñas

  12. Amber

I have five super sensitive dogs, they are slowly learning that this will not harm them. I followed the manufacturers instructions to desensitize the dogs and it’s working. It’s amazing how a wee bit of liver will make The nail grinder not so scary.
I am a lot calmer using this device, the nail cutter had me in a cold sweat for fear of cutting the quick. Now I relax and the dogs react a lot calmer.

  13. Donna

My dog is a chug (Chihuahua mixed with a pug). He is incredibly spoiled and has been kicked out of so many groomers locally (like as in 4 days ago another one refused to charge us b/c he wouldn’t even let them complete the nail trim). We ordered this and immediately when it came we used it. It is very efficient. The tip is perfect and gets the job done quickly with minimal fuss. It took under 5 minutes to complete the 2 front paws which were long since he won’t let anyone touch them. Comes ready to use/charged. Light weight. Quiet sound. My dog didn’t even make a peep when my husband did his nails. It is safe and we absolutely love it, especially for the price.
