I have had bad luck with drill bits. Most of us have had the experience of driving a screw into wood only to hear the dreaded clicking of a stripped screw…or worse, a ruined driver bit. Luckily, there is good news! These bits are the most durable drivers I have ever used (and I have used a lot).
First of all, if you have never used an impact driver…you should buy one now (right now). You will never go back to normal screw-driving. I recommend the Dewalt 20V max XR brushless impact driver. It has smooth operation for small jobs, but can also drive 4″ wood screws through a 2X4 and 4X4 without breaking a sweat.
That’s where these driver bits come in…I built a workbench (pictured) using these, and stripped probably 7-8 screws in the process (my fault). The driver bit I was using still looks brand new! This is the best test of driver bit quality, as it shows the heads were properly heat-treated to give the steel extra durability. Cheaper bits will start to bend, crack, and round-over on the edges when the bit slips in a screw head. These Dewalt impact bits do none of that.
Pros:
– Ultra durable
– Nice rust-resistant finish.
– Large assortment of bit sizes and types.
– 1/2″ socket attachment for driving bolts.
Cons:
– Extra magnetic bonus bit does not really fit in the case…it’s just loose and gets in the way or falls out.
– Rubber mounts do not always hold the longer bits that well.
Final Verdict:
– If you have an impact driver and want bits that will always be in good shape and work perfectly, this is the driver bit set for you! I have personally used this set for 3 household projects and have not had a single problem.
