I surrounded it with rock without sealing with cement. When it heats up and the fire is big enough it seems to keep the smoke down.

I purchased this to make a smokeless fire pit that I had seen on YouTube. It is easy to assemble and well made. Be sure to leave about 1/2″ space between the ring and the stones, as well as about 3″ space at the bottom. It does work as a smokeless fire ring after the fire gets hot enough, but it does smoke when you first light the fire and as it goes out. It is a heavy steel and should last a lot longer than the galvanized rings that the feed stores sell.

I’ll clear up what the product description lacks. This comes in multiple parts, unlike more high end fire ring inserts. You have to use the provide small bolts & screws to attach together. Not sure if it’s 100% smokeless, but looks great & fits well.

The dimensions are slightly off. That’s one star down.
It’s bigger than stated for me, and I had to widen my bricks apart, but what I’ll be doing is removing the bottom layer of a two high retaining wall block fire pit and digging out the interior. That will make this a great fire pit liner.
I use my fire pit to get rid of tree and paper trash, which means I need a long hot burn once a year. This liner held up really well, with only a few spots having the finish turn pink. If you only have fires that last a couple hours and aren’t too big, this might be well into the lifetime of your bricks territory.
Assembly was a breeze, there’s little rust showing here in the Pacific north west, and honestly if you are looking for a liner on a budget this is a great option with good value and functionality.

It’s a great idea! We haven’t achieved full smoke-free yet, but I’m not sure if it is because it’s a sunken firepit and the smoke just billows or if there is another reason.
